The trip was perfectly organized, starting with a smooth coach ride from our hotel to the ferry, which took us to Nisyros, followed by another coach to the crater, and then the reverse journey -all running like clockwork and right on schedule. Upon arriving at Nisyros, we had ample time to explore the charming island, including a visit to the serene monastery. The recommended restaurant was a highlight, serving an incredible lunch with a standout special: zucchini flowers stuffed with Nisyros cheese, which was an absolute delight. “Good instructions about where to meet and easy to find. The main thing is how long it will take to go down from Fira downtown to the port - the cable car ride is just a few minutes but it may not be running at full capacity. For us, it was so the down journey was less than 10 minutes including a short wait. The boat itself was mostly but not completely full - it was easy to check in and find a spot to sit. They played music that was a little loud but not too bad. The volcano was fun - the island itself wasn't that interesting but…”

“Boat takes an hour each way from Karadmena Port. We had the coach transfer from our resort in Psalidi, and it took over 90 mins, as stopped at seemingly every resort on the Island. Boat was a small ferry type thing. Had about 2 hours to wander around Nisyros , which is pretty with a few cafes, restaurants and a tiny pebbly beach. We had lunch there. Some people went up to the Monastery; there was an additional charge for this (3.50 each i think). We didn't, and instead had a look round some (expensive) tourist souvenir shops.
